Jax’s work is mainly about interpretations of the oppositional relationships and disordered forms, shapes and patterns produced by both man and nature and how they co-exist. She is trying to capture feelings about the environment and to explore man’s “footprint”, his ambivalent relationship and impact on the environment. She constantly explores materials and methods to develop her visual language and continue on her creative journey.
Jax is a member of the Welland Valley Arts Society, Rutland Open Studios, Leicester Society of Artists.
Debbie is a contemporary artist, workshop tutor & calligrapher painting from her Northamptonshire garden studio with glorious views over the rural landscape. Combining working ‘Plein Air’ with her travels, Debbie turns her outdoor sketches into finished paintings in her studio. These dynamic paintings often combine various media giving vibrant results based on her working in Cambridge, Suffolk, Norfolk, Jersey, Cornwall, The Gower Peninsular and Portugal, Rutland as well as on her Northamptonshire doorstep.
The wonderful impressionist’s use of colour using watercolours, ink, acrylics, pastel and oils continues to be the inspiration for her paintings. ‘I like to capture the essence of the scene rather than the detail. I enjoy using pure colour with very little pre-mixing. I embrace accidental marks, the drips and the blobs! For my own development I regularly attend a life drawing group where I love to draw in accurate detail finding this glorious discipline very useful, supporting my loose approach to painting.’
