David Lewis

David gained his degree in Fine Art at Leeds in 1975. He started out as a performance artist and later became a teacher of art and, following that, he had along career in the animation industry as animator, designer and director. For the last ten years he has been making pictures that remain still.

David works in a number of media including acrylics, watercolour and iPad drawing. He sees no great difference between figurative and abstract art for they are all just collections of lines, shapes, tones and colours.

He believes that a strict discipline in drawing from observation is the indispensable basis for working in any of the visual arts. He does not seek to “find himself”, he hopes for just the opposite.
